Pre-Kindergarten

​(Age 4 years old by September 1st )



Your child will grow socially, emotionally and physically right before your eyes. Each week focuses on a number and a specific letter, sound and formation. Each child will receive individual support from the teachers to develop strong handwriting skills, all of which is chronicled in a journal. Homework will be issued to reinforce the skills, learned that week in class.

 

 

 

The Pre-Kindergarten curriculum includes learning to:

 

  • Cut along a line with scissors

  • Establish left or right-handed dominance

  • Learn basic shapres, such as square, triangle, rectangle and circle

  • Understand time concepts like yesterday, today and tomorrow

  • Recognize and write the letters of the alphabet in upper and lowercase forms

  • Know the relationship between letters and the sounds they make

  • Recognize simple sight words, such as                    "The, With, There, By"

  • Read simple sentences

  • Spell his/her first and last name

  • Know and write address and telephone number

  • Recognize days of the week, months and year

  • Write consonat-vowel-consonant words, such as "Bat and "Fan"

  • Retell a story that has been read aloud

  • Show an opinion through drawing, writing or speaking (Ex: "My favorite book is...)

  • Identify and be able to write numbers from 0 to 100
